Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies (IYCF-E) Course Begins

October 2, 2023

The next “Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies” (IYCF-E) course will begin October 2nd 2023. Registration is required and will close on Sept. 29th.

CCHCs trained in IYCF-E will be equipped to train child care program staff in implementing Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies. In this trainer course, CCHCs will learn:

  • key principles of IYCF-E and its importance on child health and health equity
  • to recognize the importance of IYCF-E practices in the ECE setting and identify the current EPR planning gaps
  • how child care programs can integrate IYCF-E best practices in preparing for an emergency.

This course is made up of four parts, two asynchronous and two synchronous live virtual sessions. In order to receive a certificate of completion, it is required that each participant complete both asynchronous modules and attend both live virtual sessions.

 

When:

Part One: Introduction to IYCF-E (Asynchronous online module)

Released Oct. 2nd; Complete by Oct. 9th

Part Two: BFCC Emergency Mitigation 10 Steps (Synchronous virtual session)

Attend Oct. 10th 12:30pm – 2:00pm

Part Three: Reflection on Gaps in Child Care EPR + Review of BFCC Emergency Mitigation 10 Steps (Asynchronous online module)

Released Oct. 10th; Complete by Oct. 23rd

Part Four: Emergency Kits and Application – Integrating IYCF-E practices in the ECE setting

Attend Oct. 25th 12:30pm – 2:00pm
