Fundamentals of Health and Safety in Child Care is an introductory course intended for those who want to learn more about working with a Child Care Health Consultant (CCHC). This course provides information and resources on creating healthy and safe child care environments.

This course covers health and safety topics in child care, including:

  • Child care laws, rules, and best practices
  • Community/professional supports and resources
  • How to best work with a CCHC

We recommend this course if you are newer to your role and in one of the following positions:

  • Head Start Health Manager or a similar position
  • Technical assistance provider or a similar position
  • Community-based nurse program partners such as School Nurses
  • CCHC Supervisors
  • Local health department employees who work closely with a CCHC, such as:
    • Child Health Nurses
    • Communicable Disease Nurses
