We do have some basic guidelines to follow for our online trainings. ALL participants who attend our trainings must:
Ensure they have a reliable internet service, computer/tablet, and Zoom access.
Have no more than 2 participants per device if a device will be shared.
Ensure that they can be seen at all times during the training, which means a camera must be on and adjusted so that all participants are in view.
Be on time for the training. Anyone logged in after the first 5 minutes and anyone who leaves early will not receive credit for the training.
Be actively engaged. Participants should not be driving, attending a sporting event/practice, or preoccupied with other activities while attending online trainings. Participants are expected to engage in trainer-facilitated discussions and activities during the training.
ITS-SIDS – The Infant/Toddler Safe Sleep and SIDS Risk Reduction in Child Care
ITS-SIDS is a two-hour training that is required if you work in an infant room. This course prepares caregivers to set up safe sleep environments and follow safe sleep rules and practices that may reduce the risk of injury and death from SIDS and other sleep-related accidents.
Please register for this online training only if you have taken ITS-SIDS previously. We encourage anyone taking this training for the first time to seek an in-person session.
Medication in Child Care is a two-hour training in which participants learn about NC Child Care Rules and best practices addressing medication administration in child care. Topics covered include:
Reasons medications are given in child care.
Types of medication typically given in child care.
Procedures for receiving, storing, documenting, and disposing of medication.
The six rights of medication administration.
Common medication errors and rule violations, how to prevent them from happening, and how to document errors if they occur.
Infant and Child Social and Emotional Wellbeing for Early Educators
Infant and Child Social and Emotional Wellbeing is a two-hour training that covers infant and child social and emotional wellbeing for early educators. Participants will understand the impact that safe, stable, nurturing relationships have on the social emotional development of infants and young children in the early education setting, increase awareness of how self-care and reflection is important in establishing and maintaining positive relationships, and learn strength-based approaches to apply when caring for children exhibiting dysregulated behaviors.
Autism in Child Care: A Foundation for Early Educators
Autism in Child Care is a two-hour training that includes information on autism in early childhood. Participants will increase their knowledge of early signs and detection of autism for young children. They will be able to name supportive ways to share concerns with caregivers, identify resources that support and can assist young children with autism in the early care and education setting, and explore developmentally appropriate activities and inclusion practices for young children with autism.
Safe Handling of Children for Child and Educator Wellbeing
Safe Handling is a two-hour training that introduces methods of safe handling and shares strategies to avoid unintentional injury in early care and education (ECE). By actively participating in this training, learners will be able to describe safe handling, recognize common injuries, and name handling and classroom management strategies that can help reduce the risk of child and adult injury in the ECE setting.
Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPR) in Child Care
EPR is a 2.5-hour training that provides early educators with information and tools to prepare for many types of emergencies. The EPR in Child Care Training addresses NC Child Care Rules on emergency preparedness, current best practice recommendations, and guidance on completing the online EPR Plan. NC Child Care Rules require that a designated individual from all licensed centers and family child care homes complete the training and submit a facility EPR Plan. This training qualifies the participant as the EPR Lead for their early care and education program.

Stay Healthy, Stay Clean: Handwashing, Diapering, and Toileting
These combined modules from Stay Healthy, Stay Clean make atwo-hour training that discusses basics on infectious diseases and how they spread. Participants will learn about:
The consequences of inadequate handwashing, how to wash hands and assist children to wash hands, and when adults and children must wash hands in child care.
When and how to check diapers, what kind of equipment is required for proper diapering, the correct steps of diapering, and how proper diapering prevents the spread of germs.
Common sources of violations and issues to avoid.
Toilet rooms, toilet learning practices and equipment, and how to assist when children have accidents during toilet learning.
BBP is a one-hour training developed by the NC Child Care Health and Safety Resource Center covering the requirements of OSHA’s bloodborne pathogen standard and how it applies to child care. Participants learn about bloodborne pathogens, how they are spread, how to control exposure to bloodborne pathogens at work, and what to do if they are exposed at work.
